i appreciate your honest opinion, Eucalipto. i think that's my best shot, trying diverse concepts. but overall, i think i just shouldn't stress it anymore. i don't think that my work is so horrible that i should be 50 millions views behind someone else, but at same time i'm really confused as to why i can only get 300 views on a piece.
To get your art on the "popular" (homepage) page you must have a considerable amount of views on an artwork you submitted. When you upload something you choose the gallery it belongs to. In that gallery there might be other artworks with thousands of views in 8 or 24 hours (3 days, week, month, etc) That means its popularity will get him to the top of that gallery and (supposedly) on the front page.
After you submit something you can go to the homepage, change the "period" to 8 hours and click on the "next" button until you find your work. You might have to wait some minutes for it to appear though...
I guess it's something like this.
When dA changed this "system" you could submit a photo or a drawing to a gallery that had no submissions (with a different/wrong category) and you could pop up right on the top of the frontpage
thanks man! yeah, i have an old account and i used to get on there, but my work just doesn't make it there any more. oh well. at least i don't have to purchase an account! i guess i was just a bit confused cause i see work with 50 views on there, while i'm at an average of 200 in the first 24hrs.
